Dr. Abaza performs the following minimally-invasive advanced robotic urology procedures at OhioHealth Dublin Methodist Hospital using the da Vinci Surgical System robot:
  • Radical Prostatectomy (for prostate cancer)
  • Robotic Salvage Prostatectomy (after radiation failure)
  • Robotic Simple Prostatectomy (for enlarged prostate)
  • Robotic Nephrectomy (kidney tumors or non-functioning kidneys)
  • Robotic Partial Nephrectomy (kidney tumors while saving rest of kidney)
  • Robotic Nephroureterectomy (upper tract urothelial cancers)
  • Robotic Pyeloplasty (repair obstruction of kidney)
  • Robotic Ureteral Resection or Reconstructions (for ureteral cancer or blockages)
  • Robotic Cystectomy (bladder cancer)
  • Robotic Partial Cystectomy
  • Robotic Adrenalectomy
  • Robotic Partial Adrenalectomy

Extensive Experience in Robotic Urology

Because of his extensive experience and dedication to robotic surgery, Dr. Abaza is able to offer robotic surgery to many patients who were previously not considered candidates, such as obese patients, patients with previous abdominal and prostate surgery and patients with high-risk or complex cancers. This also includes patients who have had their prostate cancer return after radiation.

Dr. Abaza has built a team of nurses and other surgical assistants at OhioHealth Dublin Methodist Hospital who have worked with him in performing hundreds of robotic surgical procedures.  These team members specialize in robotic surgery just as Dr. Abaza does, including Renee Lewis, RN, PA who is Dr. Abaza’s bedside assistant for every robotic procedure he performs and has performed over 2,000 procedures with him.
